This article explores the threats that religious extremism poses to the stability of society, national unity, and social harmony in the Republic of Azerbaijan, as well as the responses of the state and society to this threat. The increase in religious extremism in Azerbaijan is linked to the influence of other countries in the region and is exacerbated by issues in the social, economic, and educational sectors. The article highlights the strategies of the Azerbaijani state in combating religious extremism, innovations implemented in the legislation in this area, and the importance of multiculturalism policies. It also focuses on the responsibility of religious leaders and media organizations in the fight against extremism. These measures are aimed at minimizing the impact of religious extremism on Azerbaijani society and strengthening security. The article emphasizes the need to improve socio-economic conditions, increase religious education, and the importance of cooperation between the state and society in combating extremism. Thus, this multi-faceted approach serves to ensure Azerbaijan’s security and preserve peaceful coexistence in society.
