Lebanon occupies an important place in the processes taking place in the ‎Middle East today. It is no exaggeration to say that the struggle of Israel with ‎the Palestinian Arabs has engulfed the entire Arab and Muslim world. ‎Lebanon, like other Arab countries, is going through the most difficult period ‎in its history. But it was not always so. There were times when peace and ‎security reigned in Lebanon, since the Lebanese people were not homogeneous ‎in their composition. People of different nationalities and religions lived here. ‎This diversity of the population played an important role in shaping the main ‎characteristics of today's Lebanon. A deep study of the historical development ‎of the various communities existing in Lebanon helps to understand the ‎realities of today's Lebanon. In this regard, the presented article deserves ‎attention. The article examines the problems of identification of the Lebanese ‎Maronite community. The author gives a brief description of the main ‎conceptual approaches to the identification of the Maronite community. ‎Particular attention is paid to the changes that have occurred in Lebanon's ‎foreign policy over the past decades.‎
