To protect the territorial integrity and independence of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic, which declared its independence on May 28, 1918, one of the important tasks facing the government and people of Azerbaijan was the organization of a national army. The organization of such army began immediately after the declaration of independence. It was a rather complicated process to create an army. However, one of the important reasons for successfully overcoming these difficulties was the organization of the army on national values. In this sense, the transformation of Azerbaijani turkish into an official language within the army and its implementation was of great importance. Because the vast majority of the soldiers of this army were illiterate young people, and it would not be easy to mobilize those young people to perform very complex and responsible tasks by speaking a different language. Only by communicating in the soldier's native language, it was possible to train him as a loyal defender of the Motherland. The application of Azerbaijani turkish in the national army was also a matter of political importance. Because by the decision of the government of Azerbaijan, Azerbaijani turkish was declared the official language of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic, and the use of Azerbaijani turkish in the army of the Republic was a national duty. That task was solved very successfully as a result of the policy followed by the Ministry of Defense of the Republic. The present article is devoted to the study of the application of Azerbaijani turkish in the Army of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic.
